FORK LIFT OPERATOR TRAINING - OSHA REQUIREMENTS
VISTA conducts forklift operator training courses helping you meet OSHA 29 CFR Parts 1910, 1915, 1917, 1918 and 1926.
OSHA 1910.178 states that after December 1, 1999:
“Only trained and authorized operators shall be permitted to operate a powered industrial truck. Methods shall be devised to train operators in the safe operation of powered industrial trucks.”
The regulation requires that employers must: 1. Develop a complete training program 2. Certify all training and evaluations 3. Provide training that is accountable 4. Maintain records.
The OSHA regulation addresses the following types: Class 1. Electric Motor, Sit-Down Rider, Counter-Balanced Trucks (Solid and Pneumatic tires) Class 2. Electric Motor Narrow Aisle Trucks (Solid tires) Class 3. Electric Motor Hand Trucks or Hand/Rider Trucks (Solid Tires) Class 4. Internal Combustion Engine Trucks (Solid Tires) Class 5. Internal Combustion Engine Trucks (Pneumatic Tires) Class 6. Electric and Internal Combustion Engine Tractors (Solid and Pneumatic tires) Class 7. Rough Terrain Forklift Trucks (Pneumatic Tires)
