SIMULATION MANAGER SOFTWARE
Simulation Manager (available in English, French, and Spanish) is part simulator database and part database interface. It is designed to help you better use your Personal Simulators when they are shared by many people, and there is a need to carefully document simulation results (e.g. for simulator-based new hire pre-screening). Any of our Personal Simulators work with Simulation Manager.
To understand what the Simulation Manager does, let's begin with a quick look at how Personal Simulators work without it.
Limitations of Single-User Mode The simulation software defaults to operate in single-user mode. This means that the Simulator does not "know" who you are and so anyone can sit down at the Simulator controls. Simulation results are saved as a "Results" file on your PC's hard disk, along with the date and time.
This single-user mode is fine when the Simulator is used by just a small number of people, since we can easily keep track of who did what when: "I remember that Joe was using the Simulator on Tuesday morning so to review Joe's simulation results, I just need to look for the Results file with Tuesday morning's date and time."
If Joe is back at the Simulator on Wednesday afternoon, then you'll need to review two different Results files (one for Tuesday morning, the other for Wednesday afternoon), to keep track of what he did and evaluate his progress. (Remember that each time Joe is on the Simulator, a new Results file is created.)
If you forget when Joe was using the Simulator, his Results files will never tell you! Note too that Joe's results are not at all confidential (private), since everyone with access to your PC can review every Results file.
When many people share the Simulator, things become much worse: the number of Results files skyrockets, and it becomes much harder to keep track of who is doing work when! Instead, you'd like to be able to save and keep track of simulation results for each simulator user separately.
You'd also like to make the simulation results confidential: each user should only be able to review his/her own simulation results, not anyone else's. But "special" users, like Trainers, should be able to able review everyone's simulation results. Simulation Manager is designed to let you do all that.
Advantages of Multi-User Mode (Simulation Manager) To begin, use the Simulation Manager to create a list of Simulator users in a special database, by assigning a unique login name and password to every person authorized to use the Simulator.
Then, at your each individual Simulator, enable the multi-user mode using a special "unlock key" that will be provided.
Each user enters their assigned login name and password so that the Simulator can "know" who they are. Simulation Manager helps make your Simulator more secure by ensuring that only authorized users can use the Simulator, i.e. just people with a valid login name and password.
Simulation results are saved in a special database as a new entry under the user login name (alongside your results from previous simulator sessions).
At any time, you can use the Simulation Manager to review simulation results. You'll need your login name and password so that the Simulation Manager can "know" who you are. If you're a “Student”, you can only review your own simulation results (and change your own password).
But if you're a “Trainer” user, then you can review all simulation results, change user information (including login names and passwords), etc.
